Hello beautiful souls! It's a pleasure to meet you (virtually)!

My name is Jessica. I know you came to this page to learn more about who I am. However, there is something I’d like to ask you first before we jump into that.

I am just curious, what does art mean to you? Why do you enjoy art?

Is it for the colors? The textures you see? For the emotions it triggers for you?

For me I have always had an appreciation for visual art and what it can provide for people. At a very young age, art was my outlet to not only express myself but to further explore what my imagination can do. Afterall, growing up in a small midwestern town surrounded by cornfields, there really wasn't much around to entertain myself as a child. Therefore art, nature, and (perhaps too many) cartoons gave me an abundant outlet to learn and explore what I really liked, how I wanted to share my story, and how I wanted to contribute to society.

During my 30 plus years exploring art from the Midwest to the California coast, you could say I have done it all!  I enjoyed investigating the abundant artistic avenues through visual mediums, and how you can tell a story.

After all those years traversing different mediums, I have found fine art is still my favorite way to express oneself, to share a story, communicate, and inspire others. It cultivates a feeling: bringing something from the mind to life, and being more “hands on” with the work where the energy of the creator can be felt and seen in a piece. You don't always need to be so detailed, or have everything “perfect” to convey what you want to share.

Perhaps that is why I am inspired mostly by nature in my work. There is no “perfection”, yet everything has its purpose. It is recognizable and relatable, yet still has its own unique story to share.

My aim is to pull out the story and emotion, by simply feeling the energy of the subject itself. What inspires me about this? How do I feel when I see this? What story am I trying to convey? How can this aid others? Once you take a closer look, you begin to truly feel the energy of the brush strokes on the canvas, see the emotion of the subject through the colors and values, touch the texture of the paper with charcoal or watercolors, and perhaps even hear the story of the work unfolding. It encourages all of our natural senses to connect with the piece and communicate in a unique way.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me, and exploring the work I thoroughly enjoy creating. I invite you to tour my website more and connect with me on my social media to stay updated on my latest works. My CV is also available upon request, if desired.
